  1. He commanded that we do it. Partake of His body and blood. So that is what it is. Free gift of Himself. His forgiveness. His love. Himself.

    Much more than remembrance. After all all…we weren’t there. But in the Supper…He is here. Literally, tangibly, bring the cross to bear in our lives, in real time, in our personal histories. The external Word of God that comes to us from outside of ourselves. Totally apart from anything that we say, do, feel, or think.

    Yeah, I think one of the things that Moe over at C:MC was driving at here was that the New Covenant involves the “sealing by the Holy Spirit.” Too often, Christians miss (among other things) the larger realities of the New Covenant that are celebrated in the Supper. That the Second Christ (Comforter) abides with us and the Supper is part of that reality. This is new among the people of God; OT saints did not have the indwelling of the Spirit like the NC saints do.
