Our confidence rests solely in the Gospel, as the divine word about Christ’s finished work, as a verbal-Image of God, to which we perpetually look and are saved. In our reflecting upon (w/faith) Christ’s work inscripturated, we are being made to reflect Christ’s image.
We are servants then of the transforming new Covenant—not the killing old Covenant letter (v.7)—of the life-giving letter of the Spirit (v.6). Herein, we with unveiled faces behold the glory of the Lord in the Gospel, and are being transformed, that is, sanctified into the same image of Christ, in varying degrees, by the Spirit of the Lord (v.18).
