We are not like Israel (and all who remain dead in Adam), who did not submit to God’s righteousness in Christ, being ignorant of this righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness by the Law (Dt 6:24-25).We know then, that, Christ’s righteousness consummates the Law-era, for He is the Righteousness of everyone who believes the Gospel, finished work (Rom 10:3-4).
We boast in this Gospel alone, being unashamed of it, for ‘It’ (the merit of Christ) is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes that therein the righteousness of God is revealed for faith, a faith that the righteous shall go on living by (Rom 1:16-17). We have then a faith which is fixed upon the fact that, the Law itself justifies no one (sinner) before God, for it is only those who live by faith in Christ’s righteousness that are counted righteous (Gal 3:11). We are given this sort of faith which always remembers that, by a single offering, Jesus perfected for all time those who are being sanctified (Heb 10:14). We rely upon this single offering (performed once historically, yet proclaimed perpetually) to open eyes and enable men to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. We are justified (accounted right) and sanctified (conformed right) solely by faith in His righteousness, as it is exclusively revealed and effectual within the Gospel (Acts 26:18).
